FAQs
White Wine Doesn't Stain My Teeth, Right?
A myth. Researches at NYU concluded that the acids in wine, white or red, create spots and grooves in teeth that allow chemicals in stain-causing beverages, such as coffee, tea, sodas, or energy drinks to penetrate deeper into the tooth. Our recommendation to drinkers is to cut back not cut out their consumption of wine if they want to keep their pearly whites bright. The common threads in acid erosion and dental caries are the loss of tooth structure. While organic bacterial acids lead to caries, it is the extrinsic acids in foods and beverages that may lead to erosion. In both cases, we offer early detection and preventive measures that keep incipient problems from becoming complicated.
How do I tell my husband about bad breath?
Bad breath is a common complaint from partners. It is easy to help your spouse with the condition. Have your loved ones visit our dental office regularly for check ups and hygiene care. First measure we take is to make sure there are no underlying problems complicating the overall oral heath. Gum disease is one of the more prevalent and preventable culprits in bad breath. A detailed regiment may be recommended for improving oral hygiene and daily home care. This includes the often overlooked tongue that needs attention and may be brushed or scraped. Oral rinses are widely available over the counter and in prescription form, but diluted peroxide solutions may be extra effective against odors.
Is Fixing My Teeth Going To Hurt?
Gone are the days when dental care was all done without modern conveniences. There is new technology that makes fixing small caries lesions simple. Air abrasion techniques in our office allow for some small filling procedures to be done pain free and often no anesthetic needed. We have better performing anesthetics that when called for and applied appropriately help make any dentistry we provide comfortable. There is the recently available anesthetic reversal for those who don't want to have the lingering numbness following a routine dental visit. This is especially good if you are going back to work the same day.
